Head of APPEAR Program Visited AUG
Oct 26, 2016 – Prof. Andreas Obrecht, Head of Austrian Partnership Program in Higher Education and Research for Development (APPEAR Program) visited AUG.
Prof. Obrecht was received by Prof. Dr. Abdulkhaliq El Farra, AUG President; Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abu Hemida, Dean of Scientific Research; Dr. Ali Abu Zaid, Dean of Planning and Quality Assurance; Prof. Dr. Naji Al Dahoudi, Prof. of Physics & Materials Science Engineering; Dr. Mazen Hamada, President of the Board- University Presidency; and from the Development Studies Center (CDS) - Birzeit University Mr. Ghassan Abuhatab, Projects Coordinator and Researcher Rami Murad.
During the visit, the attendees discussed AUG's experience with APPEAR through "Rooting Development in the Palestinian Context" project, implemented in partnership with Birzeit University and the University of Vienna. They also discussed the mechanism of submitting the application for the sixth APPEAR call and the hardships they faced due to the imposed siege.
Prof. El Farra awarded Prof. Obrecht the University's trophy in recognition of his efforts to support developing research and higher education in Palestine
At the end of the visit, Prof. Obrecht was taken on a tour to visit the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of Dentistry, Center of Drug Analysis and Research, Center of Food Analysis, and the new campus in Al Mughraqa
