AUG Participated in Summer School for Development in Lebanon




Aug 6, 2017 – AUG team participated in the summer school "Rooting Development in the Palestinian Context" in Lebanon from June 22-28, 2017.

The summer school included Palestinian researchers from Gaza, West Bank, Jordan, and Lebanon to work on Palestinian development agenda as part of "Rooting Development in the Palestinian Context" Project, implemented with Centre for Development Studies (CDS) at Birzeit University, Department of Development Studies (DDS) at the University of Vienna, and NGOs in Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon, and funded by the Austrian APPEAR program.

AUG team participated via videoconference due to the severe Israeli restrictions placed in issuing permits to move to Lebanon.  

Dr. Ali Abu Zaid, Dean of Planning and Quality Assurance inaugurated the opening session, explaining the research challenges in Gaza and the urgent need to produce critical knowledge that is compatible with the general Palestinian situation.

Bilal An Najjar and Zubaidia Abu Tuha discussed a paper on field research in the Gaza Strip, drawing the most important tips while conducting explanatory research in the field.

Researchers: Haitham An Najjar and Wiam Wahhab presented the significant methodologies used in the Gaza Strip as well as the research projects implemented by Rooting Development team in the Gaza Strip.
