Jan 26, 2017 – Six out of the eight student winners in the Legal Research Competition of 2016 are from the Faculty of Law at AUG.
The students; Nasir Thabit, Mohamed Elewa, Mohamed Subaih, Oruba Othman, Faten Al Sourani, Maha Sabah, and Usama Abu Sabit won the first, second ,third, fourth, sixth, and seventh places respectively.
The competition aimed to enhance scientific research, rehabilitate and train the students on conducting scientific research that shed light on significant societal issues, and reinforce the concept of extracurricular activities among the students.
The number of submitted research in the competition amounted to more than one hundred research from different law faculties in the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The submitted research included various topics including: Women's and Family Rights, Drug Enforcement, Municipal Elections, and Forensic Medicine.
It is worth to mention that the Legal Clinic at AUG organized the competition as part of "New Visions for Legal Education Development" Project, implemented in partnership with 'SAWASYA' UNDP/UN Women Joint Program "Strengthening the role of law Justice and Security for Palestinian People" (2014-2017).
