Jan 4, 2017 – A delegation of AUG Board of Trustees and administration visited the established "Solar Energy Electricity - Generating and Storing" Project in AUG which is seeking to provide an environmentally friendly source of energy, addressing the chronic electricity crisis and rolling power cuts in Gaza, and keeping up with the latest technologies in finding alternative energy for electricity.
Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Prof. Dr. Abdelkhaliq El Farra, President of AUG were accompanied by Dr. Nabil Al Shawa, Treasurer of the Board of Trustees; Eng. Moahmed Al Wazir, Director of Projects Unit; Eng. Maher Anan, Future For Palestine (FFP) Consultant in Gaza; Eng. Raed Al Haj from the Palestinian Energy and National Resources Authority and reprsenttaives of MegaPower Company.
The visit aimed to follow-up the new developments of the project which is considered the biggest project in Gaza in terms of the equipment used to generating and storing electricity from solar energy. It consists of 350 electronic boards and generates 75 kilowatts of electricity.
It's worth to mention that the project is funded by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, supervised by FFP, and executed by Excellent Company in the West Bank and MegaPower Company in the Gaza Strip.
