British Council Discusses Cooperation with AUG

Aug 24, 2016 – A high delegation from the British Council- Palestine consisted of Mr. Brendan Mcsharry, Director of the British Council in Palestine and Mr. Sohail Tarazi, Programs Director in Gaza visited AUG.

The delegates were received by Prof.Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Naser, Dean of faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Awni Abu Samaan, Assistant of Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Issa , Head of Engineering Department.

The visit aimed to enhance the cooperation through a new project to collaborate with UK universities, specifically in the field of industry. The project is going to focus on two elements: Students employment, research and innovation to expand research capacity, and thus develop the research facilities in the Palestinian universities.

Dr. Mcsharry stressed the importance of reducing the gap between academic education and the private sector through guiding research toward this direction. He also discussed developing the main library at AUG as well as the means to support it electronic books and scientific journals.

At the end of the meeting, the delegates toured the various facilities of the library, faculties, and labs.
