First Batch of Family Medicine Diploma Graduated




Aug 3, 2016 – In cooperation with UNRWA, Rila Institute of Health Sciences, and the University of Westminster-UK, the Faculty of Medicine celebrated the graduation of the first batch of 15 physicians from the Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine.

The graduation ceremony was held under the patronage of Mr. Bo Schack, Director of UNRWA Operations in Gaza and Prof. Dr. Abdel Khaliq El Farra, President of AUG. Prof. Ram Dhillon from Rila Institute, Dr. Ghada Al-Jadba, Chief of the UNRWA Health Department, Dr. Ali Khader, Acting Deputy Director of UNRWA Department of Health and Dr. Samir Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine attended the ceremony.

This program, funded by Alwaleed Bin Talal organization, is the first and only postgraduate diploma in Family Medicine held in Palestine. According to a MOU signed with UNRWA, the Faculty of Medicine provided the logistical support, teaching theoretical and practical subjects and supervising the teaching process in coordination with Rila Institute and Westminster University in the UK.  It is scheduled to repeat the program on an annual basis to generate qualified specialists in Family Medicine in order to provide better quality of health care to our community in Gaza.
