AUG Trustee awarded Knight of the Legion of Honor

Jul 12, 2016 - On behalf of the French President François Hollande, the French Consul General H.E. Mr. Hervé Magro conferred Dr. Majdi Sha'koura, the member of AUG's Board of Trustees, the highest French civilian distinction, Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honor).

France's highest decoration was awarded during a grand ceremony held at the French Cultural Center- Gaza.  In addition to the large crowd of dignitaries and representatives of international and local organizations in Gaza, the celebration was attended by the chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, AUG President, AUG Council members, and the head and members of employee syndicate.

The honor came in recognition of Dr. Sha'koura's distinctive contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Palestine and France. Hence, he became the first representative of Palestine to be awarded the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor.
