Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation Services

Feb 26, 2017 – The Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences hosted a workshop of the presented services of Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Dr. Mohammed Fares, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Mahmoud Sabra, Head of Economics Dept. and a number of faculty members and students attended the workshop, in the presence of Mr. Salahaddin Al Shawa, Director of Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation Office in Gaza.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Sabra pointed that this activity came as part of a series of economic activities that aimed to connect the theoretical and practical aspects of the faculty students. He praised the significant role of the corporation in (i) promoting savings under the excessive consumption and the decline of production sectors, and (ii) encouraging savings and protecting deposits.

For his part, Mr. Al Shawa talked about the objectives of the corporation and its role in promoting financial stability to perform its role efficiently and effectively. He went on to mention its role in protecting the rights of depositors in banks operating in Palestine.

The workshop aimed to increase the level of awareness of guarantee deposits system and encourage customers to increase their savings in order to enhance the confidence in the banking system.
