Mechatronics Students at AUG Develop Solar Car

Aug 15, 2016 – Despite living in the besieged Gaza Strip where the limited resources and the fuel and electricity crisis, two students managed to develop a prototype of a car ran on solar power.

Jamal Al Miqaty and Khalid Al Bardawil, students from Mechatronics Engineering Department in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, defended their graduation project entitled "Solar Car". They explained that the Gazan reality of chronic electricity deficit and diesel shortage inspired them to put their knowledge in an integrated system to develop the solar car, in spite of having a great difficulty in manufacturing it due to lack of the necessary materials.

The students are currently studying the possibility of converting an electric car to a car runs on solar power, hoping this project will be a contribution to solve the critical crisis.
