Legal Protection for Consumers, Fourth Legal Students Conference

Jan 22, 2017 – The Legal Clinic at AUG held the Fourth Students Conference, entitled "Legal Protection for Consumers".

The Conference had three themes: the legal protection for the consumer, the civil protection for the consumer, and the role of justice sector institutions in consumer protection.

Dr. Mehdaat Sa'adallah, Dean of Student Affairs, commenced the ceremony on behalf of AUG President. He confirmed the significance of holding the conference for the fourth consecutive year, applauding with the students' efforts to communicate with their outside surroundings.

In his remarks, Dr. Saher Al Walid, Dean of the Faculty of Law, pointed out "The Conference is a great opportunity to merge the Palestinian students in the process of legal scientific research to promote the scientific research's culture and enhance the graduates' skills in dealing with such scientific conferences and days."

 Ms. Aya Bashir, Coordinator of Civil Society Programs at UNDP, stressed the Conference's significance in discussing the challenges facing the consumers. 

The conference consisted of two sessions. Ms. Wala'a Muhesin discussed in the first session the penal protection for consumers in e-commerce, while Mr. Ra'ed Jundia discussed the Legislative protection for consumers in the light of the Palestinian legislations.

In the second session, Nassir Thabit and Ali Al Massri discussed the legislative protection for consumers from abusive conditions in electronic contracting, while Zainab Al Khaldi and Osama Al Sawarka discussed the basis of the product's civil liability.
