Legal Scientific Research towards Development of the Methods of Legal Education

Jun 29, 2016 – The Legal Clinic in the Faculty of Law at AUG held a workshop entitled "Legal Scientific Research towards Development of the Methods of Legal Education". The workshop came within "The New Visions for Legal Education Development" Project, implemented in partnership with UNDP/UN Women Joint Program "Strengthening the role of law Justice and Security for Palestinian People".

 130 attendees consisted of deans of law faculties, representatives of civil society organizations, lawyers, academics, and activists discussed the main objective of the workshop; developing the legal education systems and integrating the scientific research in the curricula of law faculties.

During the workshop, five central themes were discussed. The first theme, legal scientific research methods and approaches, was discussed by Dr. Afif Kaloub from the Islamic University. Dr. Ramy Wishah from AUG discussed the second theme; difficulties of scientific research in the legal field. The study plans of legal scientific research as well as the cooperation between academic institutions in the field of legal scientific research were respectively explored by Dr. Ahmad Hussenia Dean of the Law Faculty at Gaza University and Dr. Ahmad Al Agha from the University of Palestine. The fifth theme was the role of the justice sector institutions in the development of scientific research.

The workshop was concluded with a set of recommendations:

  •   To create real and tangible mechanisms to be  adopted by academic and research institutions  that support scientific research
  •   To strengthen the cooperation between the law faculties and the Palestinian Bar Association in the field of legal scientific research
  •   To incorporate scientific research materials  in the study plans of law students
  •   To provide law researchers with all the possible facilities in the scientific research centers at the Palestinian universities
  •   To adopt several legal scientific topics to improve the legal reality of our community
