Awareness Symposium on World Down Syndrome Day

In collaboration with Right to Live Society, the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation at AUG organized an awareness day on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day. The ceremony was attended by the Faculty's Dean Dr. Kanan Al-Wahedy, Dr. Mahmoud Taleb from Pharmacology and Medical Sciences Department, Ms. Adalah Abu Madian Director of Right to Live Society, the Executive Director of Right to Live Society Mr. Nabeel Junaid, Dr. Tayseer El shurafa Director of School Health at the Ministry of Education, and a large number of the Faculty students.

Student Manar Othman, the master of the ceremony, welcomed the guests and appreciated the role of International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation in organizing such events.
Ms. Abu Madian briefed about Right to Live Society and its relentless efforts to take care of people with Down syndrome. She said "These people are marginalized in the Palestinian society. They need significant and effective care from everyone."  
 
Dr. Taleb delivered a lecture on Down syndrome, the genetic factors that cause it and explained how to deal with people with Down syndrome.

The ceremony included a video that illustrated the daily life and activities conducted by the children in the Right to Live Society in order to draw attention and highlight this group of the community. Furthermore, many children with Down syndrome from the Society attended the ceremony where they sang, conducted several musical performances and showcased their handmade works.

At the end of the ceremony, the Federation handed acknowledgement certificate to the Right to Live Society.
