Mar 27, 2017 – In cooperation with the Palestinian Water Authority, the Institute of Water and Environment (IWE) held a scientific day , under the title " Drinking Water between Desalination and Sustainability" to celebrate World Water Day.
Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Mansour Al Louh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences; Dr. Khaldoun Abu Alhin, IWE Director; and Eng. Marwan Bardawil from the Palestinian Water Authority; in addition to a number of AUG Council members, faculty staff members, and researchers attended the day.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Muslih pointed out AUG's significant role in discussing one of the most pressing issues that faces the Palestinian community.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Al Louh explained that the day aimed to scientifically diagnose the water crisis and apply the treatment methods developed by specialists and decision makers.
Dr. Abu Alhin briefed on IWE and its mission in monitoring water contamination, conducting periodic research, and raising the awareness by holding workshops in this field. He went on to encourage international organizations to support the innovative ideas aimed to provide clean and sufficient water for the population of the Gaza Strip.
During the event, the specialists discussed drinking water scarcity, its dimensions, climate impacts, water conservation methods, and polluted water-related diseases.
