Feb 21, 2017 – AUG hosted a special exhibition for the Irish poet William Butler Yeats, in the presence of a high-level delegation from the Representative Office of Ireland in Palestine. The delegation was headed by Mr. Jonathan Conlon, Representative of Ireland in Palestine; Mr. Declan Johnston, Deputy Representative; and Mr. Emile Makhlouf, Program Advisor.
Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Mansour Al Louh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences; and Dr. Jamal El Shareef, Head of English Department as well as large number of faculty staff members welcomed the delegates.
The exhibition drew a large crowd of students, showcased around 30 roll-up displays of the life and works of WB Yeats in Arabic and English.
During the exhibition, three of the faculty students: Aseel Mousa, Ahmed Karira, and Linda Afanah recited poems written by WB Yeats. In return, Mr. Conlon presented the students with a gift of a collection of poetry by Yeats.
At the end, AUG awarded the delegates with the University souvenir as recognition for their efforts in implementing the exhibition in Gaza.
